Exposure: theory
Good exposure is critical for getting high-quality photos. However, the essence of the exhibition is very simple. Exposure is just the amount of light that hits the photo sensor. The…

The composition defines
Don't confuse composition with framing. Framing determines the direction of the view and the field of view, and composition determines the relative position of objects. By pointing the camera in…

Sharpness
Is sharpness important for a good photo? Yes and no. On the one hand, a technically perfect photo should usually be definitely sharp. No matter how interesting it may be…

Dynamic range

Light falling on the photodiodes of the digital camera matrix is converted into an electrical signal. For this to happen, the number of photons that hit each individual photodiode must exceed the sensor sensitivity threshold. If there are not enough photons, the corresponding section of the frame will be completely black. If the exposure is excessive, the photodiodes are saturated with photons and the overexposed area turns out to be white. The ratio between the exposure values required to produce a completely black and completely white color is called the sensor’s dynamic range or photographic latitude. Continue reading

Histogram
Getting the correct exposure when shooting with a digital camera is easy. In this article, you will learn what a histogram is, how it can be used to control exposure,…

Subject movement
No matter how stable your camera is, its stability is completely useless when shooting moving objects. Only a short shutter speed will help freeze the movement. This is why when…
