The number and shape of aperture blades
The arrangement of the lens aperture affects not so much the quality of the blur as the shape of the blur circles. In fact, so-called blurring circles rarely have a perfectly round shape. They usually look like more or less regular polygons with the number of sides corresponding to the number of diaphragm lobes. The aperture in Nikon lenses has 7 or 9 lobes, in Canon lenses – 6, 7 or 8 (occasionally 9). The more petals there are, the more rounded the blurring disk looks, and an odd number of petals usually produces polygons that are more pleasing to the eye. Continue reading
Why are Amateur photos so weak for the most part? First of all, because the average photographer is not aware of their weakness. This is not a problem if the snapshot function is purely Protocol. Such photos will be valuable for their author, his relatives and friends as a memory of some big or small event: a birthday, a picnic, a well-spent vacation. Trouble happens when a person, taking a camera in his hands, realizes that he is a Creator and begins to create unrestrainedly, not allowing a shadow of doubt in his own giftedness and being unshakably confident that the excess of creative energy easily compensates for the shallowness of knowledge and careless attitude to work. That is, let him create for his health, but after all, he puts it all on the Internet, insistently demanding attention and compliments. Cameras are changing significantly under the influence of new technologies.
